Mars: the ruler of an Aries midheaven
Aries answers to Mars alone, and the house it occupies shows where the work gets its push. Mars also rules Scorpio, and it is exalted in Capricorn, where the tradition says it works with discipline instead of heat. It spends about six to seven weeks in a sign and about two years going around the zodiac, so its sign is shared by many people born in the same stretch of time, and the house tells you more. Aries midheaven vs 10th house in Aries
Only in some house systems are they the same point. Most chart sites show the two as one, but the answer depends on how houses are counted. A quadrant system such as Placidus opens the 10th right at the MC, so there an Aries MC always means Aries on the 10th cusp. Whole Sign gives each house one sign, beginning with the rising sign, and Aries is the 10th only for Cancer rising. Leo rising moves it into the 9th, Gemini rising into the eleventh.
Cancer and Leo are the rising partners, nearly level in New York at 49.3% and 50.7%. A Whole Sign app there is as likely to say "9th house" as "10th house" next to the Aries MC; 49.3% of the New York cases get the 10th.
