The Weeknd is the stage name of Abel Tesfaye, a Canadian singer, songwriter and record producer from Toronto. He began releasing music anonymously on YouTube in 2009 and put out the mixtapes House of Balloons, Thursday and Echoes of Silence in 2011. They were compiled as Trilogy in 2012, and his first studio album, Kiss Land, followed in 2013. Beauty Behind the Madness (2015) was his first chart-topping album in the US and included "Can't Feel My Face" and "The Hills"; it and Starboy (2016) each won the Grammy for Best Urban Contemporary Album. After Hours (2020) carried "Blinding Lights", which Billboard named the best-performing song in the history of its Hot 100. He headlined the Super Bowl LV halftime show in 2021 and released Dawn FM in 2022 and Hurry Up Tomorrow in 2025.
