Paul McCartney joined John Lennon's group the Quarrymen in 1957, and the band became the Beatles. He shared the songwriting with Lennon on songs such as "Yesterday", "Hey Jude" and "Let It Be". He received an MBE in 1965. After the Beatles he released the solo album McCartney in 1970 and formed Wings in 1971. He was knighted in 1997 and went into the Hall of Fame for rock and roll twice, with the Beatles in 1988 and alone in 1999. His Got Back tour played the United States in 2022.

Astro-Databank records 2:00 p.m., passed along from Linda McCartney in an article in the ACVA Journal, summer 1998. The astrologer Greg Martin gave the same time in a 2013 interview. Astro-Databank grades it A.
The other time comes from Christopher Sandford's biography McCartney (2006, page 18): "born at Walton Hospital, shortly after two in the morning on 18 June 1942". It names no source, so in 2018 Astro-Databank put the afternoon chart first. Britain then kept British Double Summer Time, two hours ahead of UTC.
