Albert Einstein was a German-born theoretical physicist, best known for developing the theory of relativity. He graduated from the Swiss federal polytechnic school in Zurich in 1900 and then worked at the Swiss Patent Office in Bern. In 1905, sometimes called his miracle year, he published four papers: on the photoelectric effect, Brownian motion, special relativity, and the equivalence of mass and energy. In 1915 he proposed the general theory of relativity. He received the 1921 Nobel Prize in Physics, awarded in 1922, for the law of the photoelectric effect. From 1933 he held a position at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, New Jersey. He died on April 18, 1955.
A certificate copy from the Einstein Archive
Astro-Databank's note reports a certificate "in hand from Einstein Archive," reading "vormittag um elf ein halb Uhr," translated there as "before noon at eleven and a half."
Lois Rodden's original entry cited only "Ebertin quotes B.R.," and the certificate copy replaced it. No other hour is listed. Ulm kept its own local mean time then, about 40 minutes ahead of Greenwich.

Mercury beside Saturn at the summit
Mercury at 3°09′ and Saturn at 4°11′ of Aries lie 1°03′ apart. Mercury stands for thought and Saturn for structure and restraint, so their conjunction suggests thinking that moves in exact, disciplined steps.
Venus at 16°59′ of Aries joins them, and the 10th house holds all three however it is cut. That house stands for vocation and public standing, which the tradition ties to a visible body of work.

Pisces on the midheaven and in the Sun
Pisces took the midheaven at 10:42 a.m. and keeps it until 12:33 p.m., which puts the birth 48 minutes in. The midheaven is 12°50′ Pisces, and the Sun at 23°30′ shares its sign. By Placidus the Sun falls in the 10th house, by Whole Sign in the 9th, the house of far-off learning.
The Sun sextiles Pluto within 1°13′, the second-tightest aspect, and Pluto at 24°44′ of Taurus occupies the 11th house of networks and long-range hopes. A sextile is an open door that helps when it is used.

A Sagittarius Moon that rules the rising sign
Sagittarius holds the Moon all day, at 14°32′, and the 6th house of method and daily work receives it either way. Sagittarius is the sign of travel and open questions, so the pairing points to feeling that settles through steady inquiry.
The Moon trines Venus within 2°27′, a fire-sign link running up to the 10th house. The square from the Sun is 8°59′ wide, a loose angle that sets the Sun's aim against the Moon's mood.

Cancer rose at 10:37 a.m. and gives way at 1:04 p.m.
