Diana Ross, born Diana Ernestine Earle Ross in Detroit, is an American singer and actress. She sang lead with the Supremes, who signed with Motown in 1961 and reached number one in 1964 with "Where Did Our Love Go" and "Baby Love". She played Billie Holiday in Lady Sings the Blues (1972), a role that brought a Golden Globe and an Academy Award nomination, and starred in Mahogany (1975) and The Wiz (1978).
A quoted record, on war time
The Source Notes in Astro-Databank read: "Contemporary American Horoscopes, Gauquelin Book of American Charts." The entry is filed as a quoted birth record, and no other time is listed.
In 1944 Detroit kept Eastern War Time, UTC-4, the year-round daylight time of 1942 to 1945, so 11:46 p.m. on the clock is the hour used here.

A Sun that trines Pluto and sextiles Uranus
The Sun at 6°22′ of Aries and retrograde Pluto at 6°31′ of Leo trine each other, 0°09′ short of exact. The tradition reads a fire trine as an easy flow between two sources of energy, with Pluto adding intensity and a taste for large change to the Aries start.
Uranus at 5°39′ of Gemini sextiles the Sun, 0°43′ off, and sextiles Pluto, 0°52′ off, so the Sun anchors a small triangle. Everyone born in the mid-1940s carries the Uranus and Pluto link, and the Sun's place inside it is what belongs to this chart. The Sun falls in the 4th house of Placidus and the 6th of Whole Sign, which covers daily work.

Scorpio on the horizon, Virgo at the top
Libra handed the Detroit horizon to Scorpio at 9:49 p.m., and the birth came 117 minutes later. Scorpio rising gives a guarded, intense first impression that shows little until it chooses to.
The midheaven is 6°08′ Virgo. Virgo took it at 11:23 p.m., 23 minutes before the birth, after Leo. Virgo overhead points to a public side built on craft, polish and attention to detail.

Mars on the last degree of Gemini
Mars stands at 29°22′, 0°38′ short of Cancer. Scorpio's old ruler is Mars, so the planet in charge of her ascendant sits at an edge, which astrologers read as drive close to a turning point.
Saturn at 20°50′ and Uranus at 5°39′ share the sign. Whole Sign fills the 8th house with the trio, a house the tradition ties to transformation. Placidus keeps Mars there and sends Saturn and Uranus to the 7th, the house of partnerships. Mars also squares Neptune, 3°25′ off.

A Taurus Moon that arrived at 2:01 a.m.
The Moon crossed out of Aries into Taurus at 2:01 a.m. that day, 21.8 hours before the birth, and moves on to Gemini at 4:59 a.m. on March 28.
At 13°04′ it sextiles Venus at 12°21′ of Pisces, 0°43′ off, an earth and water link that suggests comfort between mood and taste. Placidus sets the Moon in the 6th house and Whole Sign in the 7th. Venus sits in the 4th and the 5th, the latter linked with creative play.

Two retrograde planets in Leo, near the top of the chart
Jupiter at 17°29′ and Pluto at 6°31′ sit in Leo. They land in the 9th house of Placidus and the 10th of Whole Sign, the house the tradition links with career and reputation. Leo is the sign of performance, and two heavy planets there give that house a stage-like tone.
Jupiter also trines Mercury at 15°47′ of Aries, 1°42′ off, a link that suggests ease in putting ideas into words.
